May 6, 2008, is National Teacher Day, a time for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.
Annual Meeting
The 2008 Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly will be held in Washington, D.C., July 1 through July 6. With over 9,000 delegates, the RA is the world's largest democratic deliberative body. Delegates debate issues that impact American public education and set policy for the 3.2 million-member Association.
Back-to-School
Back-to-school is an exciting time, not just for students and educators, but for parents, school administrators, and the community. Preparing students for those first few weeks of school is a shared responsibility—one in which we should all take part. Our resources can help.
American Education Week

NEA's Read Across America
March 3, 2008. Initially created as a one-day event to celebrate reading on Dr. Seuss's birthday, NEA's Read Across America has grown into a nationwide initiative that promotes reading every day of the year.
The National Education Association (NEA) partners with The NEA Foundation, First Book, and The Heart of America Foundation in a continuing effort to provide funds and books to under-resourced public school libraries.
Regional Leadership Conferences
Convened annually during late winter/early spring, Regional Leadership Conferences encourage members to become more involved in Association leadership by expanding their knowledge of NEA, its programs and activities.
Minority Leadership Training Seminars
Held in early fall and late winter, Minority Leadership Training Seminars provide members of NEA's four designated ethnic minority groups (American/Indian Alaska Native; Asian/Pacific Islander; Black, and Hispanic) the skills they need to be effective leaders in their schools, communities, and the Association.
Women's Leadership Training Program
Thousands of Association women leaders across the country have experienced Women's Leadership Training—especially designed to meet the needs of emerging and experienced Association leaders.
40th Anniversary of NEA-ATA Merger

Horizons of Opportunities: Celebrating 50 Years of 'Brown v. Board of Education ,' 1954–2004
