Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Scholarships Dramatically Impact Student Success

The Spanish Scholarship Fund (HSF) aims to strengthen America by advancing higher education for Hispanic Americans. In its 33-year history, HSF has awarded in excess of 86,000 scholarships worth more than $247 million to Latinos attending nearly 2,000 colleges and universities in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

A recent study* found that 80 percent of HSF scholarship recipients graduated within five and a half years—a rate almost 30 percent higher than the national average for students of all races and ethnicities for the same period.

High school seniors of Hispanic/Latino Heritage who are U.S. citizens (or eligible non-citizens) with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and who are planning to enroll for the first time at a college or university as degree-seeking freshmen in the fall may apply.

The scholarship application period for the 2009–10 academic year is now open.

Applications are only available online. The online system allows a student to begin an application in a file that can be accessed and revised again later, prior to completion. By filling out an HSF application, a student automatically is considered for more than 3,000 different scholarships.
