Objectives
Students will:

  • decipher dictionary pronunciations, and
  • demonstrate an understanding of words in context.

Materials Needed

Procedure

  1. Review with students the dictionary pronunciations on the example page. Ask students why the pronunciations are spelled differently from the words.
     
  2. Distribute the Sound It Out work sheets to students. Tell students to use the dictionary page example to complete the work sheets.

Assessment
Evaluate students' completed work sheets.
