Students will:
- decipher dictionary pronunciations, and
- demonstrate an understanding of words in context.

Materials Needed
Procedure
- Review with students the dictionary pronunciations on the example page. Ask students why the pronunciations are spelled differently from the words.
- Distribute the Sound It Out work sheets to students. Tell students to use the dictionary page example to complete the work sheets.
Assessment
Evaluate students' completed work sheets.
