NEA-Retired Program Meetings
NEA-Retired meetings are open to all our members. They allow us to shape NEA-Retired policy, help other members better understand the benefits and services available to them, and provide training and information on important issues. There are two kinds of NEA-Retired program meetings:

NEA-Retired 2008 Annual Meeting Review
We celebrated 25 years of dedicated service in the NEA family last June. We spent our silver anniversary honoring those who help make NEA-Retired successful. They include the following award winners:

Largest increase in retired members was awarded to the New Jersey Retired Educators Association and the runner up was the Kentucky Education Association-Retired.

Largest percentage increase in retired members was awarded to the Kentucky Education Association-Retired and the runner up was NYSUT NEA-Retired.

The established state retired newsletter award was presented to NEA-Alaska-Retired for the "NEA-AK/Retired Newsletter" and the runner up was the Alabama Education Retirees Association, Inc., "The AERA Voice."

The beginning state retired newsletter award was presented to the Nebraska State Education Association, "NSEA-Retired Advocate." The runner up was the Georgia Association of Educators-Retired for "In The Know."

The local retired newsletter award was presented to the Fairfax (Va.) Education Association-Retired for "FEA Retired" and the runner up was the Pennsylvania State Education Association-Retired's "WHISPAS."

The Spotlight award was presented to the New Jersey Education Association for "The NJEA Review-Retired Educators Column" and the runner up was the Nebraska State Education Association's "NSEA Voice-NSEA-Retired Corner.

The Web site award was presented to the Alabama Education Retirees Association. The runner up was the Bucks County (Pa.) Retired Association.

Jack Kinnaman Scholarships were presented to Sasha Huff of the University of Evansville in Indiana and Aaron Merkin of the University of Wyoming. Both received $1,200.
