WASHINGTON — President Biden unveiled his fiscal year 2023 budget today that would continue providing historic investments in health care, childcare and public education, and other costs for America’s working families.

“President Biden has long said that budgets reflect our values, and his proposal for next year’s spending is no exception for putting students and American working families at the center of historic investments. From the American Rescue Plan to his annual budget, President Biden continues to shape America with a bold vision of what this country should — and can — be for all Americans, whether Black, brown, white, Native, newcomer, Hispanic and Asian alike. By doubling Title I funding, further investing in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, making higher education more affordable, creating community schools and providing more school counselors, nurses and mental health experts who can focus on students’ well-being and address severe educator shortages, President Biden gets that these much-needed investments will positively impact students as we navigate our way out of this deadly pandemic.
“Whether you live in a large city, the suburbs or rural America, we all have a fundamental right to the American Dream. But for too long, the playing field has been uneven, or barricades have blocked the pathway to the middle class and other upward mobility. President Biden’s plan to outline a minimum tax on billionaires is a step in the right direction for having those American households worth more than $100 million pay their fair share. The National Education Association urges Congress to build from President Biden’s fiscal year 2023 budget and prioritize students and families.”
