About NEA Aspiring Educators
NEA Aspiring Educators are the leading voice for the next generation of educators. Our union supports, develops, and empowers members with the resources, networks, and opportunities to excel as educators and leaders, both as students and throughout your career.
- Connect With Your Peers: Members of the Aspiring Educators program are part of a community of more than 40,000 students who believe in improved teacher education and support for prospective teachers. With Aspiring Educators you will connect with fellow pre-service teacher on campus, in your state, and across the nation.
- Make a Difference Together: We do not stand alone when advocating for change, whether in our colleges and universities, in politics, or in the education profession. We are lobbying for paid student teaching and working to create the safe and welcoming schools and campuses all students deserve.
- Join a Network of Educators: By joining the largest labor union in the country, you join a national network of aspiring, current, and retired educators. Your campus chapter’s connection with your state association and the NEA means you can meet practicing classroom teachers and school staff who will help you feel more comfortable as a future educator.
- Get Support Throughout Your Program: The Aspiring Educator program is designed to help you excel in your pre-service training program. Members have access to professional development and staff support on relevant topics like licensure, classroom management, equity in schools, interviewing, and the NEA micro-credential program.
- Access Union Protection and Insurance: Membership comes with insurance and legal services that meet college and university requirements for classroom practicum/internship, student teaching.
- Gain Leadership Development: Aspiring Educators serve as chapter leaders, on statewide and national education committees, and attend trainings and conferences designed to equip us with the tools we need to be the leaders of today and tomorrow.
