Do NOT divert taxpayer dollars to international schools in Bahrain

Using the FY2025 National Defense Authorization Act to create a voucher-like program is bad policy, bad for students, and bad for educators.

Take Action

Eliminate the Bahrain voucher program from the FY2025 NDAA

The Federal Education Association (FEA), an NEA affiliate, represents educators serving 66,000 students in the United States and overseas—the children of active duty military and civilian employees of the Department of Defense

Administered by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), the schools are located in 11 foreign countries, 7 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico.

A voucher-like program in DoDEA Bahrain would rob schools of resources and students of First Amendment, due process, and other constitutional and statutory rights. Moreover, the absence of accountability invites fraud and abuse—especially when funds would go to schools or institutions outside the purview of the United States, as they would in Bahrain.
