Take Action

Pass the District of Columbia Local Funds Act of 2025

Congress passed a temporary funding bill that kept the federal government operating, but would force Washington, D.C. to slash $1 billion from its current budget.

The city—where the mayor and city council approve the budget, but Congress must authorize it—would have to make the drastic cuts by October 1, forcing layoffs of educators, police officers, first responders, bus and rail service, and other crucial services.

We have a responsibility to speak up for Washington, D.C., not only because it’s our Nation’s Capital, but because the city’s elected delegate, owing to provisions in the U.S. Constitution, has no vote on legislation. Tell your representative to pass the District of Columbia Local Funds Act of 2025 to protect public schools and other public services.
