With NEA’s Associate Director of the Human and Civil Rights Department Hilario Benzon moderating, participants will hear from panelists to learn about creating spaces of belonging for the AAPI + LGBTQ+ community. Panelists include NEA HCR 2021 Virginia Uribe Memorial Award winner Sam Long, Nicholas Turton from The Trevor Project to speak on AAPI LGBTQ youth and mental health, Inoke Tonga, an activist and former volleyball coach/teacher who was fired for being 'out' in Colorado, and Josef Canaria, Act to Change board member, speaking on anti-bullying support for API youth.
