Don’t Let the Trump Administration Move Department of Education Programs

Shifting programs to other agencies hurts kids and communities, and usurps the power of Congress.

Take Action

Don’t let the Trump administration move education programs to other agencies

The Trump administration is shifting certain Department of Education offices and their associated programs to other federal agencies—an unprecedented and illegal move that could disrupt funding to states and school districts. It could also result in layoffs, gut learning opportunities, reduce special education services and resources, and increase barriers to post-secondary education.

Last year, the administration began moving career and technical education programs to the Department of Labor. Some post-secondary education programs are being moved there as well, and we expect additional moves to continue throughout the year. So far, the administration has spread out various education programs among five different federal agencies—Labor, Health and Human Services, Interior, State, and Treasury.

Protect public education and our nation’s students. Stop dismantling of the Department of Education NOW!
