NEA-Retired recognizes the hard work and contributions of NEA-Retired members through its Distinguished Service Award, Communications Awards for newsletters and websites, and Membership Awards. Scroll down below for overviews of each award, links to submit entries, and supporting documents for download.

 

Awards for Distinguished Service and Membership

The application deadline for the 2025 NEA-Retired Distinguished Service Award is open. The deadline to submit is April 15, 2025.

Distinguished Service Award

The NEA-Retired Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor presented annually to an NEA-Retired member in recognition of their contributions to public education during their years as an active and/or retired member in their local, state, and national associations.

Membership Growth Award

NEA-Retired works hard to recruit NEA-Retired members. Four awards are presented annually at the Retired Annual Meeting to identify and salute those Retired state affiliates who are leaders in membership growth.

Spirit of Membership Award

The Spirit of Membership Award recognizes and honors those state and local Retired affiliates that, while building membership, have built an innovative program to engage, involve, grow, and advocate around professional issues within their organization, their state, and their communities.

The deadline for the this year's Communications Awards is April 15, 2024.

The Retired Print Newsletter Award identifies, recognizes, and amplifies print state, local, and regional newsletters and active state print newsletters that exhibit good journalism and show broad and effective coverage of issues relevant to Retired members.
