Because of the educators and allies who took action, the White House has announced a new student-debt cancellation plan, which could forgive up to $20,000 in federal student debt for borrowers. [Note: Recent court actions have paused the cancellation plan.] This victory comes on top of the temporary Public Service Loan Forgiveness waiver, which has delivered $10 billion in loan forgiveness for public-service workers over the past nine months.
