NEA Protests at NRA Convention
NEA President Becky Pringle and other leaders protested outside the National Rifle Association's (NRA) annual convention in Houston, in May.
The NRA convention took place just days after a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas.
Pringle joined Texas State Teachers Association President Ovidia Molina, former Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke, and other activists to call for an end to gun violence in schools.

- 100+ new student support positions for the 2021 – 2022 school year
- 88 literacy specialists to support accelerated student learning
- 33 school counselors
- direct pandemic relief funds for HVAC and other facility upgrades, student technology access, and voluntary home visits

An End to Unjust Teacher Pay Regulation
NEA is calling on the U.S. Department of Labor to rescind the Fair Labor Standards Act, an archaic and outdated federal regulation that results in more than 1 million classroom teachers being significantly underpaid. NEA is leading the charge to give teachers the same protections as similarly-educated professionals.
