NEA Commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising to Support Our LGBTQ Students, Members and Community at the 2019 NEA RA

The Stonewall Uprising was the impetus for the formation of the Gay Liberation Front as well as other gay, lesbian and bisexual civil rights organizations. It’s also regarded by many as history’s first major protest on behalf of equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community. Now celebrating its 50^th Anniversary, The Stonewall riots marked a major turning point in the modern LGBTQ civil rights movement in the United States and its impact was felt across the world.

In order to commemorate the 50^th Anniversary of this important milestone in our history and to continue our support and advocacy for the LGBTQ community, NEA has created opportunities for our members and RA delegates to show their support.
